A View From Within...
A View From Within... (Part 2)

A View From Within...(Part 2)

Here's another piece (as ordered by the democratic dictatorship that goes under the name of Jesus Fix) for your perusal. That at least gives me an opening subject to write about, if there's only a thousand things I hate (that's a serious under estimate) it's the start of any sort of writing, be it letters, articles or whatever.

Whilst having a chat with P. the other day, he mentioned that t he final decision on whether a song should be used, stuffed on the back burner or simply trashed, is usually down to him. Damn right it's down to him for several reasons; Firstly it gives the rest of the band something to moan about. Secondly, he's the one who has to stand up in front of an audience and sing the songs (if you hate doing a song it'll show when you play) and finally, it's all well and good having a debate about what's right, wrong and what simply doesn't fit, but in the end the choice has to be made and the rest of the band has volunteered P. to do the job.

Just done a gig at the Red Eye (Islington, London), put on by Darren of Nocturnal Promotions and Dark Star management, which seems to have gone down well. It all went off pretty smoothly apart from the sound check, which started off with a volume problem for Excession, carried on with the same problem for Naevus (I think that's how it's spelt) and finally got sorted when we should checked. In the end it was traced to several dodgy D.I. boxes and leads (which caused the Excession and Naevus sound levels to need adjusting.)

All in all the band had a good time with various disgusting stories being told in the van on the way there and back. The prize went to John (sound engineer) in the humour category for the Swiss hotel/brothel dialogue and for the most painful abuse of the human body (self inflicted) award. That one had everyone cringing at the thought of it.

I don't know if any reviews have been chucked on the site yet (coz I ain't looked) if not, anyone who's willing to submit a review just write it down and send it in (we reserve the right to mutilate it extensively).

P.B.

A View From Within.....

I thought I'd write something for the site from a band point of view. I don't know what sort of stuff ( if any ) you might be interested in so it's going to be a bit hit and miss at first. If there's anything you'd like to know, say, or suggest, drop us a line or two and we'll try to help out.

Firstly, we'd like to thank Brock for the effort he's put into designing, implementing and maintaining the site. Anyone who's interested ( Bands, businesses etc ) can contact him either through this site or his own address which is tucked away somewhere on this site.

Whilst I'm doing the thanks bit here's one for Matt, who used to arrange our gigs but has had to stop due to other commitments, and Gabs ( Raven Promotions ) for taking on the job as his replacement. Any inquiries along these lines should be directed to her ( the contact address/number should be somewhere on the site ). And a final thanks to Luke ( Downtrodden, who have sadly now split up ) for all his help and support of which there's been too much to mention.

Music wise, we've done a couple of gigs, one down in Margate at the Ship with Downtrodden, which was their last gig, and one in London at the Hope & Anchor ( put on by John of Neon Promotions ). There should be a couple of reviews either now or soon on the site.

We've also signed the paperwork for the inclusion of one track on a compilation album being arranged for release in the near future by John of Neon Promotions. More details, when available. Band listing, cost etc should be on the news page soon. Sorry if I'm a bit vague with the details as I float along in blissful ignorance, leaving the details in Gabi's competent hands.

Back on the gigging front, C. seems to end up having to play on other bands drum kits with monotonous regularity, the last gig being no exception. Due to time and available space only one kit was allowed at the venue, this being Birmingham band The Harpies kit. Apart from being more compact than he's used to, it was well and truly crammed into a corner on the stage, the end result was that he ended up straining his shoulder during the second song in the set, and at the end of the night had to drive a loaded van on a ninety mile journey.

On the music front we're toying with doing another CD in the ( nearish ) future. We've got enough tracks for another but the overall opinion of the band is to write some more songs first so that we can spend more time on arguing about which tracks to include. That's about it for now, but like I said earlier, write in and let us know what you want or what you think and cheers to all of you who have written in so far.

PB.
